While cocaine is still a very big concern for local authorities in Louisiana and can be found all through out the state in the form of crack its popularity is declining. People are finding methamphetamines as a solution to their lack of money. For a longer high and a cheaper price meth is on the rise. Mexican Drug Trafficking Organizations are bringing the meth into the state and distributing it through out the state. While meth labs are found they are small and do not produce enough meth to distribute it throughout the state.
Marijuana use is number one in the state and most sought after. It is being brought in by Mexican DTO and distributed throughout the state. Ingrown hydroponics is also being used as a major source of marijuana.
Currently living in Louisiana are 207,000 marijuana users, 90,600 people who abuse prescription drugs, 34,000 people who use some form of cocaine and 2,000 people who are addicted to heroin.
