Maryland

The state of Maryland is home to 5,600,400 residents and the capitol is Annapolis. There are roughly 23,290 people in state prisons in Maryland. The police will make close to 17,000 arrests in the first half of this year for drug charges and 13,000 for DUIs. While methamphetamines are at the low end of concern because of its unavailability, cocaine and heroin at right at the top. Cocaine can be found throughout the state and usually in the form of crack. Heroin is the main source of concern with law enforcement. It is being abused by most drug users especially at the teenage and young adult level. The heroin suppliers usually reside outside the city and have their users drive into the cities and pick it up for them.
Marijuana, like anywhere else, is the number one used drug and most easily accessible. Most marijuana that is found has been imported from the western part of the U.S. and in some cases low grade, locally grown marijuana can be found.
The state of Maryland also is home to 271,100 marijuana users, 118,675 people who abuse prescription drugs, 44,410 cocaine addicts and 2,520 heroin addicts.
