In a 2006 survey done by SAMHSA, Office of Applied Studies, it was discovered that in the state of California there were 320,000 12 to 17 year olds who used any illegal drug in the past month, 826,000 18 to 25 year olds who used an illegal drug in the past month and 1,529,000 people who are over 25 who used any illegal drug. Illegal drugs include cannabis / hash, cocaine and crack, heroin, psychedelics, and prescription medication not used according to the prescription. The study also found that there were 215,000 12 to 17 year olds, 692,000 18 to 25 year olds and 1,063,000 over the age of 25 who had used cannabis in the past month. Statistics in the past month found there were 304,000 12 to 17 year olds, 1,542,000 18 to 25 year olds and 4,278,000 25 or older all participated in binge drinking.
