Bakersfield

Bakersfield, California is home to 285,821 residents and is located in Kern County.

There are 135 residents living in halfway homes and another 127 residents living in homes set up to aide with drug and alcohol abuse. Bakersfield also has 341 people in state prison and 256 people in a local jail or police lock up.

 

There are roughly 15,000 residents using cannabis, 6,500 misusing prescription medication, 2,500 addicted to a form of cocaine, 1,110 using psychedelic drugs, 600 using inhalants, and 140 addicted to heroin.

 

During the calendar year Bakersfield will lose roughly 440 residents to tobacco related products, 90 to alcohol, 20 lives will be cut short due to drug overdose, and 15 people will be killed by a drunk driver.

 

The Bakersfield police will make close to 500 drug related arrests and 350 driving under the influence arrests within the first quarter of the year.

 

There were 1,706 violent crimes reported in 2005, 32 of which were murder or homicide. 16,438 property crimes were reported, 10,034 of which were thefts.
