Calexico will lose approximately 7 residents to alcohol and 1 resident to illegal drug overdose throughout the calendar year.
In the first quarter the police will make about 40 drug related arrests and 30 driving under the influence arrests.
Side effects associated with methadone include but are not limited to: shallow or difficulty breathing, hallucinations, dizziness, chest pains, fainting, vomiting, feeling weak, nervous, anxiety, dry mouth, loss of appetite, constipation, and decreased sex drive.
According to the national crime index Calexico scored a 7 out of 10 on property crime, 4 points higher than the national average, and a 3 on violent crime, equal to the national average. There were 138 violent crimes and 1,313 property crimes reported to law enforcement during the 2005 calendar year.
