When one compares residential treatment with outpatient treatment, you can see why:

  • Residential centers allow the addict to step away from work, school and social pressure for a time. Focusing completely on recovery is sometimes necessary when an addict has to go through the uncomfortable and potentially hazardous feelings of withdrawal. Addicts living at alcohol residential treatment centers early on during the process may have a better chance at long-term sobriety than those who go home between sessions.
  • Residential centers are completely staffed by professionals dedicated to eradicating addiction. Other outpatient treatments are sometimes staffed by therapists with multiple specialties or even by volunteers.
  • Everything the alcoholic needs for treatment and relaxation on-site. Centers often include exercise facilities, entertainment facilities and other resources and tools for treatment.
  • Both medicated and non-medicated options. Some alcoholics need or prefer treatment with medications in order to soothe symptoms of withdrawal and help them fight cravings. Others prefer to rid themselves of all chemical dependencies. Residential centers offer the best environment in which to recover with or without medication.

Locating a Residential Alcohol Treatment Center

Some addicts prefer to get treatment at a center that’s within easy commuting distance. This is not always essential when you’re dealing with a residential center because the addict moves into the center for a period between one and six months on average. However, we understand that some prefer their loved ones to be able to visit on occasion, so we’ll do our best to locate a residential center that works for you or your alcoholic loved one.

Another important factor is your budget. Some residential centers take insurance and some insurance companies have limitations on treatment. Other residential centers offer financial aid. Whatever the individual circumstances, we’ll find an applicable match.
